Clyde Jones appointed as airport commissioner

EAST ALTON — Clyde W. Jones has been appointed to the Board of Commissioners for St. Louis Regional Airport. He was appointed to serve on the board by Bethalto Mayor Alan Winslow.

Jones served for 35 years as a chief warrant officer CW4 in the Army Reserve and for 30 years as a civilian technician. He retired as the chief executive officer of the 102nd U.S. Army Reserve Command. He is also the past owner of WBGZ Radio in Alton.

His past public service includes terms on the Bethalto School Board, Madison County Regional Board of Education, village of Bethalto Fire and Police Commissioners, and the village of Bethalto Board.

“I am so proud to be a board member of St. Louis Regional Airport,” Jones said. “I am especially proud of the fact that this airport is used by Scott Air Force Base to do touch-and-go landing practice, which makes those pilots proficient in the support of our great nation.”

Jones graduated from Alton Senior High School and attended Lewis and Clark Community College.
